Be Our Valentine

February 9th, 2007

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. You’re either excited about it, dreading it, or just plain couldn’t care less. Whatever it is, we’re here for you! Originally we thought we’d throw a Singles’ party of sorts, but the couples cried, “What about us? Hello! We are who Valentine’s Day was made for!” So, we thought, “Okay. Couples thing.” Then the single folks yelled, “The holiday shuns us, and now we’re not even important enough to count at SoLo? Nice. Real nice.” Who wants to choose sides? Not us. So we’re doing Valentine’s Day at SoLo for all. For anyone. Whether you’re a couple, single in a group, or enjoying the evening all by yourself.

Here’s what we have planned for you: A cozy evening of gorgeous music and amazing food.

We lucked out and were able to catch the local and amazingly talented Will West free on Valentine’s Day. He happily agreed to come in and play for the evening. Rumor has it he may be bringing the other half of his Will West Duo, so we can’t wait! Will played a few times last summer on the patio. If you caught him then, you know you want to see him play Wednesday. If you haven’t seen him, you’ll just have to trust us. You won’t be disappointed.

Our Executive Chef Justin Judd has gotten into the spirit and created a special menu for the evening. Don’t worry, you can still order any of the usual choices. But why would you want to? This is some seriously tasty, sexy food! Perfect for Valentine’s Day. Check it out:

Salads
Small house w/walnuts, dried cranberries, blue cheese, tomatoes and apples

Side salad served with carrots, onions, tomatoes

Appetizers
Seared scallops with a cauliflower puree and roasted tomato buerre blanc

Baked brie served with fresh fruit, olives and a grilled baguette

Entrees

Petite filet mignon
8oz. Filet grilled to order and served with mashed potatoes, roasted shallots and asparagus topped with cheron sauce

Seared halibut
Halibut seared with herbs set on a bed of gruyere risotto with asparagus tips topped with a roasted tomato sauce

Roasted free range chicken breast
Free range chicken roasted and served on creamy mashed potatoes, asparagus, roasted shallots and topped with a mushroom compote

We’re currently taking reservations for dinner. Please call the bar directly at 503-221-2900, or send your request to info@solobar.net, and make sure to include your phone number in case we need to get a hold of you.

If we don’t see you at SoLo, we wish you a happy Valentine’s Day. We hope the day is exactly what you want it to be.

And yes. We’ll be your Valentine. But only if you’ll be ours.

Coming Up In February. . .

January 26th, 2007

Can you believe it’s already almost February? And we’re still writing 2006 on everything. . .

Right now we’re working on finalizing the details for not one, but two parties at SoLo in February. We can’t give you specifics yet, but we can tell you that if you’re flying solo on Valentine’s Day, you’ll want to be at SoLo. We’re also planning on getting festive for Mardi Gras and doing it up for Fat Tuesday. Should be fun for all!

So, sorry to keep you hanging, but check back here soon and we’ll have the goods for you. Promise!

New Year’s Eve At SoLo

December 28th, 2006

Out with the old, in with the new!

Okay, maybe not out with all the old, but who isn’t ready for a new year? We know we all have something, just one thing we’d like to leave in 2006, never to cross paths with again. Bring on the new, bright and shiny stuff. 2007, here we come!

Join us Sunday night at SoLo to ring in the New Year. It’s the SoLo you’ve come to love, but with a bit of a twist for the night. We’ll have two DJ’s – one downstairs in the bar, and one upstairs in the “big room”, a champagne toast at midnight, and possibly a few other surprises. Come celebrate!

Thank you for making SoLo’s first year a success. Here’s to wonderful and unexpected things in 2007.
